Copaiba (Coe-pie-EE-ba)

I frequently have heard about copaiba but only ordered it for the first time last month. It’s an oil in my favorite blend, Stress Away. It is a key component in the very popular Deep Relief roller blend. It also part of Young Living’s Vitality line (for ingestion) which makes it even more intriguing.

Copaiba for me is a perfect example of why you can’t try ALL the things all at once. That would be way too overwhelming! Essential oils should enhance your life but not complicate it. Now that I have copaiba as part of my oil collection, I am educating myself more about this wonderful oil and creating recipes too!

Copaiba comes from Brazil and Ecuador and is steam distilled from the oleoresin (I seem to be drawn to the resin oils). It’s woodsy aroma is very grounding for me, and it’s a nice additive to the diffusor for fall blends. What’s most interesting I have discovered, is that Copaiba is known as a “magnifier”–meaning it enhances the effects of other essential oils!

Its anti-inflammatory properties soothe achy muscles–try it for post-workout recovery. It can calm the nervous system by easing stress so apply it to the wrists or back of the neck. When diffused, it can help elevate one’s mood AND can enhance sleeping through the night. (Wake up feeling happy AND refreshed!) Copaiba has so many skin benefits too! Apply it directly to a blemish to help it resolve quickly. Add it to your favorite moisturizer to smooth and firm skin.

My younger daughter needs reminding to relax while at school especially with a test or presentation in class. She keeps a roller in her backpack with these essential oils!

My older daughter experiences headaches occasionally with nausea. She keeps this roller blend with her to use as needed during her day at school.

I purchase my 10ml glass roller bottles here from Your Oil Tools, a local supplier in my area.

My basic recipe for rollers for a 10ml bottle: 30-40 drops of essential oils and then fill the bottle the rest of the way with a carrier oil. I like to use fractionated coconut oil.
