Clean Out Candy Blondies

This has become an annual event.

In my opinion, Halloween marks the beginning of the candy year. But before we can welcome in this year’s treats, the confectionary collection needs to be cleaned out. This is best done when no children are home. They usually don’t remember what is in their candy bags from last Easter until they visualize the stash. (Yes, they are hoarders).

Not sure where the packet of Zesta crackers came from…

Some things are just not meant to be eaten. Do we really need these?!

Bye Bye, Pixie Sticks

But throughout the year, one of my favorite ways to secretly use up their chocolate is to make these blondie bars with bits of candy instead of chips. I pull out about a couple of handfuls of mini-chocolate bars. These I ground into large particles in my food processor to be added into the batter later in the recipe.

Happy Halloween! Enjoy these homemade treats. Enjoy your cleaned out pantry too!
