DIY · essential oils

Created in Fire

I love diffuser jewelry and usually am wearing at least one lava stone bracelet. Lava stone beads are a type of igneous rock, meaning they are born from fire. A volcano erupts and spreads lava which eventually cools into molten rock. This now solid, yet porous, black volcanic rock is called Basalt.

Because they are porous, lava stone beads are lightweight which makes them perfect for jewelry. This also allows for the easy absorption of essential oils and allows them to diffuse for longer periods.

Diffuser jewelry has become widely popular and is easy to find. Shop for pre-made pieces and choose from necklaces, bracelets, and even earrings. My favorite choices are bracelets! I love how other stones are paired with the lava beads, and the bracelets are easy to stack to wear multiple ones at once. Shop here for a great selection.

To apply the oils, place few drops in your palm and gently rub the lava beads between your hands. Or just carefully drop the oils right onto the beads.

Here’s a blend to help you de-stress throughout the day. I recently hosting a brunch and oils event at my home, and this was one of the make-and-take projects my guests created!

Cleansing Breath

  • 3 drops of Peppermint
  • 3 drops of Rosemary
  • 2 drops of Lavender
  • 2 drops of Tangerine
  • 2 drops of Orange
  • 2 drops of Ylang Ylang

I mix these together in a tiny dropper bottle and apply several drops to my bracelets as needed.
