Our modern-day process of Spring Cleaning is deeply connected to celebrations of the Vernal Equinox of years past. As the sun continues to shine more brightly in the sky, people were ready to shake off the stagnation of winter. Cobwebs were removed from the mind and spirit, new intentions were set, energies were elevated, and growth began.

To me, it is no coincidence that dandelions sprout during this time. Dandelions are rich in nutrients to replenish the body and cleanse the blood. Dandelion Fritters are delicious way to spring clean the inside of your body.
I love opening a window on a spring day. I visualize the fresh breeze coming in and taking space, leaving no room for the stale winter air that must be pushed out. I allow the warm sun to energize me while I straighten my home. I’m always amazed by what has piled up over the last few months.
Do you open windows when you clean because of the smell of the products? This shouldn’t be so. Open the window for the spring breeze, but not to get rid of the chemicals because the back of your throat is burning or you’re coughing. These are considered normal reactions to cleaning products, but I assure you, this doesn’t mean that it should be acceptable. In my opinion, our health is jeopardized by the very products that promise to keep our homes sparkling and germ-free. Fragrance, formaldehyde, ammonia, bleach, phosphates, dyes, and many other toxins are lurking in our products right under our sinks that have been marketed as “must-haves” for the home.
It took me years to learn this. Now I only clean with Thieves Household Cleaner and other Thieves products, mainly the Kitchen and Bathroom Scrub. The Thieves line is plant-based, non-toxic, and safe for kids and pets. The Thieves product line is formulated without SLS, parabens, phthalates, triclosan, dyes, phosphates, synthetic ingredients, fluoride, preservatives, perfumes, or formaldehyde.

The main essential oils in Thieves Cleaner are cinnamon bark, clove, lemon, rosemary, and eucalyptus. It smells amazing. I have heard its scent described before as “Christmas and happiness.”
And they work! I have tried many “natural” cleaning products in the past, including making my own. My house either smelled like vinegar or wasn’t really clean. My favorite way to use the Thieves Household Cleaner is to pour 1-2 capfuls into a 16-ounce spray bottle, and then fill the rest with water. I happily spray away! Because it is a concentrated formula, one Thieves Household Cleaner can be transformed into about 20 bottles of spray cleaner! Now that’s a way to stretch your budget.

Cleansing is a great way to restore balance in the home and prepare for new beginnings. And while you’re tidying up, diffuse these essential oils to enhance the ritual:
- Rosemary: Detoxifying
- Peppermint: Refreshing, uplifting
- Lavender: Peace, detoxification
- Lemon: Brightening, energizing, uplifting, mental clarity
- Lushious Lemon: Positivity, brightening
- Purification: Cleansing, detoxifying
