I think it’s well known that soup is the best way to use up those leftover bits lingering in the fridge.
Scrambled eggs are a close second for me, but they are not as accepting for as many ingredients as soup is.
This week’s version of soup contains rice, spinach, carrots, defrosted homemade broth (so I couldn’t return it to the freezer), and dried lentils found on the pantry shelf. I think these are pretty standard add-ins for soup and nothing too shocking!

Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough broth for the crock pot, so I added water and a chicken bouillon cube. With this dilution in taste, I punched up the zest with my Young Living Vitality Essential Oils! They offer such a concentrated boost of flavor!
The Vitality Essential Oil line is specifically labeled for internal use. The oils in the bottle with the white labels (vitality) are exactly the same as the ones as their counterpart with the colored label. The FDA decided that Young Living could not list both topical application/aromatic usage AND dietary usage on the same label. So now there is the same oil, in two differently labeled bottles, ready to be used in all three ways: aromatically, topically, and internally.
The key to using essential oils in cooking is to go slow! Sometimes even one drop is too much. You can always add more as needed, but you can’t remove the flavor if you’ve overly spiced it up! Too much parsley, for example, can make a dish taste “grassy.” I place one drop of parsley on the back of a spoon and let it run off into the sink. Then I stir the spoon with the light coating of the oil into the recipe.

Check out the Conversion Chart below for referencing how to use your Vitality Oils. This chart is compliments of The Life Steps App! If you are an avid essential oil user, you need to download this app! There is a free version which great, but then a monthly subscription one as well which is even better! Life Steps is the perfect reference to have access to when you have a question or need information quickly on anything oils.

The Vitality Oils I chose for this week’s remnant soup were Black Pepper, Rosemary, and Sage. I used 1 drop of Black Pepper, and then the drop-off-a-back-of-the-spoon technique for the Rosemary and Sage.

Embrace the diversity in usage with your oils! Rosemary smells wonderful in the diffuser as well combined with Lavender. Diffusing Sage is very grounding when combined with tree oils. And I promise your home will not smell like a Thanksgiving turkey!
