Eucalyptus Shower Melts

My family loves gifting to each other. My husband and daughter were so thrilled this year that they even shared an upper respiratory infection between them.

I am happy to say that I was not a part of this germy gift exchange. I stayed in my little corner of the house and my designated seat in the living room for the most part. However, I wiped down surfaces and brewed some healing remedies for them. I then scrubbed my hands thoroughly afterward, though LOL

Eucalyptus is one essential oil that is so helpful during the winter months. It supports the immune system and helps open up nasal passages. Eucalyptus can be mixed with a carrier oil and applied to the chest and back. Its aromatic vapors are perfect for a diffuser.

I made these Eucalyptus Shower Melts. The steam from hot showers already is a wonderful way to help with congestion. Adding eucalyptus in the bathroom is an additional benefit.

Simply drop one of these into a corner of the shower. The warmth of the shower will release the eucalyptus. Make sure not to drop it directly into the warm water stream because it will cause it to disintegrate too quickly. By placing it to one side or corner, the shower melt will dissolve slowly so you can breathe in all the wonderful benefits of eucalyptus!

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup water (plus a little more, if needed)
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 25 drops of eucalyptus essential oil
Directions:

Combine the first 3 ingredients together in a bowl. The consistency should be that of damp sand. You want the mixture to hold together when you squeeze it in your hand, but you don’t want it to be overly wet. If too dry, add a water, 1 teaspoon at a time until ready. Once desired consistency is reached, add in the eucalyptus oil and gently mix. Press the mixture into silicone molds and allow to dry out overnight. Gently remove from molds and store in air-tight container. A larger mason jar works well for this.

If you don’t have silicone molds, you can make 1 to 2 inch round balls with your hands. Then allow the balls to dry on a parchment lined tray. Store in the same way as mentioned above.
